Western Australian company wins defence contract

Perth-based company AVI Specialised Communications has been awarded a Defence Innovation Hub contract through the Australian Government to help improve how soldiers share information when deployed.

AVI was awarded the $1.87 million contract to develop a way to combine data across the Australian Army’s multiple communications networks.

The company’s Western Australian-developed technology will have significant benefits for the situational awareness of soldiers in the field.

AVI specialises in hardened networking and electronic systems, with over 30 years’ experience in delivering complex data solutions to people and machines within disrupted environments – including harsh and remote areas.

AVI’s team of experts are recognised for their development of innovative and secure technological solutions for the mining and defence industries.

Western Australia is home to AVI’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which harnesses robotic machines to build every stage of the company’s electronic equipment. The facility enables manufacturing capacity in key markets to meet growing demand for the company’s technology.

Growth in autonomous mining operations, the needs of heavy plant manufacturers around the world, and high-tech manufacturing needs in Australia, are driving demand for AVI’s Australian-built communications.
